Award-winning director Kibwe Tavares combines his training as an architect with his love of storytelling and animation to create futuristic 3D animated and live action films with social and political depth.
His detailed, vivid and kinetic films have enticed audiences in both the commercial and entertainment spheres.

Kibwe’s first short film, Robots of Brixton (a thesis project for his master’s degree), won the Special Jury Award at the Sundance Film Festival and his second short work, Jonah (which also premiered at the Sundance Film Festival), saw Kibwe walk away with the YDA's Special Jury Award along with the Audience and Short Film Awards.

Kibwe's distinctive directorial voice has seen him collaborate with household names such as UEFA, Guinness, Film4 and the BFI, with his films receiving praise from the likes of Variety, Deadline and Campaign. Additionally, Fast Company named Kibwe one of the ‘100 most creative people in business’ with TED also welcoming him as a fellow and mentor.

Most recently, Kibwe directed ‘Aisha and Abhaya’, a mesmerizing, mixed media ballet production which debuted at the Royal Opera House and presided as EP over the acclaimed BBC adaptation of Malorie Blackman’s seminal novel, ‘Noughts + Crosses’.
