Creation in Isolation: Week 4

Todays Creation in Isolation selection is from United Kingdom, Canada and Brazil..

Heartbeat of the Nation
Ross Allen
United Kingdom / Canada

Written and Directed by Ross Allen, this film started as a personal thank you to healthcare workers and became a nationwide production. From concept to completion, it took two weeks and didn’t cost a penny.

Twenty four filmmakers from across Canada donated their time and talent to create a ‘love letter’ to healthcare workers. The film has been gifted to fundraising charity CanadaHelps. It is being used as the flagpole marketing campaign for their “COVID-19 healthcare and hospital fund”, supported by Gore Mutual. This free production has the power to help raise over $2m for our healthcare workers across Canada.

Every shoot was conducted within the local government guidelines, each person shooting solo, keeping social distance, and only filming people they were isolated with.

A pinch of salt…
James Lovick
United Kingdom

“Whilst in Lockdown I decided to teach myself how to make stop-frame animations – calling them my ‘Corona Creations’. I’ve been focussing on food typography – animating words completely created out of foods and ingredients I have in my store cupboard during lockdown. All styling, shooting, lighting was completed by myself in isolation.”
