YDA 2010: The Deadline Cometh

It’s April 1st tomorrow and that can mean only two things – April Fool’s Day is about to hit us and there’s only 15 days left until the deadline for entries for the 2010 YDA Award. So put down the whoopee cushion and take a break from clingfilm-ing the toilet – and get entering. With 3,000 metres reels of Kodak 35mm film and exposure in shots up for grabs, make sure you get the last laugh.

If you’re a young director with four or fewer professional commercials on your real, well, quite frankly we can’t think of a reason NOT to enter. Winners will have their work screened to a captive audience of movers and shakers from the worlds of advertising and production. What’s more there’s 3,000 metres reels of Kodak 35mm film up for grabs. And lots of lovely career-boosting exposure in shots magazine. Plus shortlisted entries will be screened in front of an industry audience at the Cannes advertising festival.

Rules:
Entries will be accepted until April 15th 2010.
Divided into two sections (European and Non-European), the YDA includes 5 categories:
• Broadcast commercials
• Web films
• Branded short films
• Film school commercials
• Test commercials
You can enter your film on line at www.youngdirectoraward.com
One submission rule: films that are submitted have to be among the first four commercials ever made by a director the year preceding the award.

The films are judged by a panel of established producers belonging to the CFP-E as well as Lyndy Stout, Editor at Large for Shots magazine.

This year’s YDA ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 23rd in Cannes (France). Winning directors will benefit from exposure to the advertising industry and will receive up to
3,000 meters of 35 mm film by Kodak our main sponsor.

Further information concerning the submissions is available on the offical YDA website (https://www.youngdirectoraward.com) or by contacting
Hannes Jakobsen (YDA Project Manager) at hannes@thoughtbubble.net
