YDA’s 2012 call for entries now open

Hurl your fledgling directorial career into full flight with this year’s CFP-E/Shots Young Director Award.

The call for entries is officially open, so send in your masterpieces and get set to soar.

Directors hoping to make a name for themselves in commercials can have their work seen by a panel of industry experts, and shortlisted entries will be shown to the international advertising and production community at a super sparkly screening in Cannes at the advertising festival during the Cannes Lions week.

Oh and did we mention career-boosting coverage in shots magazine?

This year we are introducing two new categories where some of the hottest work is happening – animation and video art. Video art encompasses all non-commercial, personal work not commissioned by a client. Shorter the better!

Aspiring auteurs can now submit their entries in the following categories which are divided into 2 sections, European and Non-European

•      Broadcast commercials •      Film school commercials
•      Test commercials •      Music video
•      Web films •      Animation
•      Branded short films •      Video Art

One little blip on our magnificent horizon has been the international economic crisis. After much hand wringing we’ve unfortunately been forced to compromise our benevolent philosophy and charge an administrative fee of 98 euros for each entry and 48 euros for Film School entries.

The one and only submission rule is that films entered must be among the first four commercials ever made by the director the year before the award (January 1st 2011 to April 14 2012).

Entries will be accepted until April 27th 2012 and you can enter your film online.
