Earlybird deadline coming up

The first deadline for 2026 is around the corner. At midnight March 1, submission prices for this year’s Young Director Award will increase – so don’t hesitate to send us your very best work.

If you still have a great idea waiting to be created, now is absolutely the perfect time to get started. You still have the chance to make what could be your best film to date before submissions close in mid-May (one of last year’s Gold winners was filmed in less than 72 hours before the final deadline!)

Introducing: First feature category

As an addition for 2026 we have introduced a new First Feature Filmcategory, dedicated to director’s first feature-length work of 60-120 minutes. Click the button below to submit your work.Check out our Instagram for a walkthrough of all the categories. Even if you’re planning on shooting later in the spring you can still save on the entry fee by setting up the entry now and submitting your work later on!

As a new initiative for this edition of YDA, we also launched our YDA Friends community, which is open to join. By becoming a Friend, you help sustain a space dedicated to discovery, dialogue and meaningful connection across the production industry. Friends receive recognition on the YDA website alongside other benefits.
