Ten-minute Christmas wonder

Germany sure does know how to do Christmas with a Capital C or to be more precise St Nicolaus Day celebrations. 400 santas arrived at Gate 19 at the main station Frankfurt am Main just as live performers started belting out “Santa Claus is coming to town”.

Production company Vogelsänger Film was tasked with capturing the ten-minute flashmob event, Deutsche Bahn, No Reindeer – and no room for retakes here – and edit the footage to 3 ́30″ on location after the shoot to load up to Youtube before you could say “Santa Claus has arrived”.

For flexibility with the camera systems, and wanting to keep production rates down in post and picture quality high, the production team used seven Canons – four 5D Mark II and three 60Ds, using both Canon and Tamron lenses.
