YDA 2010: Megaforce

With their surreal, fluid Orange commercials, French directing collective Megaforce took second prize in the European Broadcast at this year’s Young Director Award. We caught up with Megaforce to find out what they did in their summer holidays and where they hope to be in 20 years (clue: involves fish…)

What have you been up to since the Young Director Awards?
We wrote some treatments for ads and music video and none of them were bought! So we decide to take some rest going in holiday…

What was the inspiration behind your winning piece?
This campaign was about trying to describe visually a stream of thoughts. Jumping quickly from an idea to another in a kind of surrealistic way.

How would you describe your creative process?
I wish we could understand it… but to be honest, it really depends on the project we are working on. This is probably due to the fact that we are

When and why did you decide to become directors?
Maybe the day we decide to shoot a music video all together.
A bit more than 3 years ago in Paris.

Which film/commercial do you wish you’d directed and why?

This noodle commercial :

… because we wish we could have ideas like that.

… because we wish we could have travelled trough the USA just looking for super nice shots.

What are your hopes for the future?
