Creation in Isolation

We are being faced with a scary time. Many people around the world are finding themselves in some sort of lockdown, and while art studios, theatres and film sets shut around the world, it seems our outlets for creativity are in danger. However, we are excited to see that many people are keeping themselves, and us, entertained with their artistic creations.

This year’s theme for the YDA is Humour. While this was announced long before the Covid-19 pandemic, we believe that keeping us smiling is more important than ever given this difficult situation. Finding hope, brightness and laughter during this time will help to make this period easier on all of us. While there is very little to smile about on the news, we are seeing extraordinary acts of kindness between neighbours and friends, and people of all ages are finding new ways to express their creativity. Here at YDA we are thrilled to see all of the artistic creations that are being produced while in lockdown, and we want to do our bit to promote the best bits of lockdown filmmaking, so we are launching:

CREATION IN ISOLATION
The YDA’s quest to find and promote the best bits of filmmaking during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown

We want to see how you are keeping your creativity flowing while in isolation. Make short films using whatever you have lying around and send them to us! They’ll be judged by the YDA Team and our favourites will be posted on our Instagram for the world to see. It’s open to everyone, whether you’re a young director or not, and it’s completely free to enter.

The rules:
– You’ve got to follow the isolation/lockdown rules of wherever you are!
– Maximum 3 mins.
– Shoot in landscape or portrait, with a camera or smartphone, it’s up to you!
– Let your creativity flow with whatever you can find!
– Submit them FREE via the YDA Entry platform

We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
