Catch Up : John Kenney and Daniele Manoli

John Kenney and Daniele Manoli are two directors who have recently made an impression on the YDA blog. So when we caught their latest work we decided to share. Kenney’s joined the million-hit club with his Doritos Superbowl entry, while Manoli has gone dark and dystopian with his Video Violence music video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcfViklWRsU With support from celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton, among others, John Kenney may not have won the Doritos Crash The Superbowl competition but he’s pretty much smashed it anyway. His entry ‘Told You So’ has notched up over 1.3 million hits.

“More companies should openly embrace the gay community! Not only does this commercial show that Doritos is open-minded and empathetic, but it makes good business sense — companies should try to get everyone to buy from them,” enthuses Hilton.

Kenney was originally featured on the YDA blog in January with his Russian Roulette-themed promo for That Noise.

Meanwhile Daniele Manoli caught our eye last year with his Alphabet-inspired series of short films and clips. If you haven’t caught it already we strongly recommend that you check it out.

Manoli is back, having recovered from his epic alphabetic undertaking. This time he’s turned his attention to music video, creating this dark, cerebral media-warped landscape for Nordic electro group Video Violence.
