Announcing YDA 2024’s Call for Entries!

The Young Director Award, organised in association with shots, is pleased to announce our Call for Entries for 2024. This year’s Jury, led by Medb Riordan, the Joint Owner and Managing Director of the world renowned Production Company Academy, sets the stage for the 27th edition of the award.

Francois Chilot, the Founder and President of YDA, shares his advice for aspiring young filmmakers submitting their work this year: “Prioritise storytelling, imagination, and fiction! Upholding our imaginative spirit ensures future progress and evolution,” emphasises Chilot. “To excel, young directors must master their ability to creatively translate ideas into their own work of art. My advice to young directorial talent: be ambitious — harness your imagination and direct compelling stories.”

Championing visionary storytelling, originality, and creativity since its inception in 1998, the Young Director Award invites the next generation of directors to showcase exceptional talent and creativity at YDA 2024, inspired by Francois’ insightful words.

Winners of this year’s award will be announced at a special ceremony on Thursday 20th June 2024 in Cannes.
