Please tell us what you’re doing now and where?

I am developing a Short Film project to be shot in 3D for a client here in Australia.

What were the key moments from winning at the YDA to the present?

A special project of mine was supported by a client in Paris through Moonwalk Films. The project was a short film called Apricot which went on to be voted Best Narrative on Vimeo.com by it’s community of over 3 million users. The reaction to the film has been overwhelming and lead to a lot of opportunities, both commercially and feature film related.

Did winning the YDA help you in any way?

Absolutely. It brought me to the attention of The Institute, the commercial production company owned by Michael Bay and Scott Gardenhour. I recently shot three branded short films with them for BBDO New York. These projects were for male grooming client The Art Of Shaving. With a throwback to the New Wave and silent film aesthetic, the wry pieces are garnering a great response globally.

The Gentleman Shaver was recently featured on BestAds On TV.

Which piece of work are you the proudest of and why?

Apricot. It seems to have affected so many people.

What would your dream job/script be?

Perfume and high end fashion labels. I love shooting products that need to convey an essence and mood. Much of my personal and commercial work tries to evoke a sensuality and energy that leaves the viewer emotionally affected. I recently created a video installation for high end Australian label Benah.

What is the most valuable advice you have been given about film making?

Keep making things.

Who are the most inspirational directors for you?

Cronenberg. Lynch. Fellini. Glazer. Particularly those that move between different disciplines.

What are you watching, reading, listening to? Where do you see ads or branding most?

READING : I just finished Bret Easton Ellis’s latest book, Imperial Bedrooms. I am a sucker for L.A. Noir / Mystery.
LISTENING : Gothic Blues bands are on the rise in the local Aussie scene. Both The Preachers and Damp Vamp are fronted by swoon worthy mysterious lady types.
